Before the smaller dot matrix printers that were starting to appear in the late 70's, most printing was done on devices like these: Friden Flexowriter (eg LGP-30) - like a typewriter. Very early days. Had interesting characters supported. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jvQ1QCdCueU Diablo (daisywheel) - most of the Edinburgh CSR's were printed on these. Multiple wheels availble. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZfcLVjwcKXc IBM 1052 golf ball printer https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G2Cup4B6aJY IBM 6400 (shuttle matrix printer) 1500 lines per minute. The Algol-W printout appears to be from a shuttle matrix. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KnPBWru2Ecg IBM 1402 (band printer) - same tech as the Data Products 2260 we had in the machine halls at Edinburgh. These printers fed paper through so fast it would fountain up into the air. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FiEGoVzmyvs early classic dot matrix https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=weItWG_6q3M teletype, ASR33, etc - often with a red+black ribbon https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AwqryPuwl_w - those devices are the sorts that this project hopes to support. I'll try to ensure we have test samples from as many different technolgies as I can locate.
