Oatmeal Cookies
(These are so good, that bringing them in every week delayed my getting
fired at the Port of Seattle for several months.)
- 1/2 cup dark brown sugar
- 1/2 cup light brown sugar
- 1 cup butter
(okay, so you can use margarine, but they don't taste as good)
Cream these together.
Combine:
- 2 teaspoons vanilla
- 2 eggs
- 2 tablespoons milk
and add to the butter-sugar mixture
Sift together:
- 2 cups flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
and add to butter and sugar mixture, blending thoroughly.
Fold in:
- 2 cups oats
- 1.5 - 2 cups of raisins, chocolate chips, and chopped walnuts
(I like equal combinations)
- Grated rind of 1-2 oranges (I prefer two, but I like orange)
Keep about 2 inches apart on well greased baking sheet (flour the baking
sheet if you want the cookies to be fatter; leave it unfloured if you want
the cookies flatter). Bake at 350 F until light golden
(8 - 12 minutes)
