Second version (February, 1998)

Differences from first version:
€ Without doubt, the more important difference and the one it turns it into a work till now original is that Valencian (or south-occidental variant) verbal inflection has been completed. So, in a example like the verb ³cantar², the Dictionary accepts ³cante² as good option, in addition of ³canto²; and accepts as well ³cantéssem² and ³cantàrem², in addition of ³cantéssim².
€ The first version has been corrected word by word; mistakes found have been corrected and some barbarisms and localisms (admitted in a stroke of magnimity) have been eliminated.
€ Many geographic nouns and proper nouns (concerning catalonian linguistic area as well as from any other origins) have been enclosed depending on its frequency of use. 
€ Many others terms have been enclosed, until a total of 286.622 entries (so is, more than 84.000 from last version).
€ Finally, I have change its title. ³Català (CAT-VAL)² better expresses the criterions used in its elaboration. It joins the conventions conforming with the times and it results a coherent denomination according with my intention of making two versions in the future: ³Català (CAT)² and ³Català (VAL)².

Canvis respecte a la primera versió:
€ Sens dubte la més important i la que fa d¹aquest diccionari una eina per ara inèdita: ha estat completada la flexió verbal valenciana (o sud-occidental). Així, prenent com a exemple el verb ³cantar², a més de ³canto² el diccionari dona per bo ³cante² i, a més de ³cantéssim², dona per bo ³cantéssem² i ³cantàrem².
€ S¹ha corregit la primera versió paraula a paraula; s¹han corregit els errors que hi han estat trobats, i s¹han eliminat alguns barbarismes i localismes que havien estat admesos amb un excés de generositat.
€ S¹han inclòs nombrosos noms propis i geogràfics, tant de l¹àmbit lingüístic català com de qualsevol altre origen, en funció de llur freqüència d¹ús.
€ S¹han inclòs molts altres termes, fins a un total de 286.622 (més de 84.000 respecte a la versió anterior).
€ Finalment, li he canviat el nom. ³Català (CAT-VAL)² expressa molt millor els criteris amb què ha estat fet, s¹adiu a les convencions a l¹us, i resulta una denominació coherent amb la meua intenció de fer en un futur dues versions: ³Català (CAT)² i ³Català (VAL)².

TEXT OF THE FIRST VERSION:

Why «Catalonian-Valencian»?

Because this dictionary, on the contrary of all the commercial dictionaries I know, contains a big number of verbal forms and others forms considered secondary but absolutely normative, used in an important part of the catalonian linguistic area, and mainly in valencian region. 
This characteristic is a consequence of my valencian condition and of the way Ðsometimes aleatoryÐ I have been collecting this lexicon through the years. This characteristic will satisfy every user, and it does not interfere in its usage, independently of the standard language used in writing. Nevertheless, I think that, although it is an original characteristic and a really useful property, a separated lexicon will be profitable (so I mean two dictionaries, one with the central catalonian terminology, and the other with the valencian one). This way, taking advantage of the Excalibur potential (which includes the simultaneous use of more than one dictionary), it will be possible to make the most convenient combinations for each writing or each addressee. Indeed, this is one of the improvements I will introduce in a next version. 
In addition, I hope to complete and to correct the mistakes that the dictionary could include. We are talking about a dictionary which is in a continuous process of maintenance. So, any observation or contribution will be greatly appreciated. 
I tried my best to check it (and this operation has helped me to discover the numerous mistakes that commercial dictionaries contain), but, anyway, I admit it could include errata. On the other hand, I have the purpose of offering a version with proper nouns correctly capitalized, just as Excalibur potential will allow it. 
This first version (june 1997) contains 204.846 words. To make a good use of it, it is necessary to write your text with smart quotes or to activate the «single quote marks end of word» option in «Options/Words Boundaries» menu. 
It serves as «read only ». It is recommended to add new words in a complementary dictionary that, in this case, I will thank you for sending me. 
This dictionary is free use and distribution, except for commercial uses. In a reasonable and modest correspondence, I ask its users no to change its name, as that this unaltered document will always be enclosed with the dictionary.

TEXT DE LA PRIMERA VERSIÓ:

Per què «Català-Valencià?» 

Perquè aquest diccionari, a diferència de tots els diccionaris comercials que conec, conté un gran nombre de formes verbals i formes considerades secundàries, però plenament normatives, utilitzades en bona part de l'àrea lingüística catalana, més que més a terres valencianes. 
Aquesta característica és conseqüència de la meua condició de valencià i de la manera sovint aleatòria en què ha estat recollit aquest cabal lèxic al llarg dels anys. Entenc, però, que tot i constituir una característica inèdita, que no interfereix en el seu ús, amb independència de l'estàndard emprat a l'hora d'escriure, fóra més útil si el lèxic estigués destriat i hi hagués dos diccionaris, un amb la terminologia pròpia del català central, i un altre amb la valenciana. D'aquesta manera, aprofitant les possibilitats que ofereix l'Excalibur d'utilitzar diversos diccionaris alhora, es podrien fer les combinacions més adients a l'àmbit en què hom escriu o s'hi adreça. Aquesta és, justament, una de les millores que pense introduir en una propera versió. A més d'això, espere anar ampliant-lo i corregint les possibles errades que hi puga haver. Aquest és un diccionari en un procés constant de manteniment. 
Us agrairia qualsevol observació o aportació al respecte. He tractat de revisar-lo el més acuradament possible (la qual cosa m'ha servit per descobrir els nombrosos errors que contenen els diccionaris comercials), però, tot i això, reconec que pot contenir alguna errata. 
D'altra banda, tot just les característiques d'Excalibur ho permeten, tinc la intenció de bastir una versió amb els noms propis degudament capitalitzats.
Aquesta primera versió ( juny de 1997) consta de 204.846 mots. Per a que funcione correctament, cal que utilitzeu als vostres textos cometes tipogràfiques o que activeu l'opció «single quote marks end of word» del menú «Options/Word Boundaries».
És de «lectura només». És recomanable d'afegir noves paraules a un diccionari complementari que, arribat el cas, us agrairia que em fésseu a mans.
Aquest diccionari és de lliure ús i distribució, excepte per a finalitats comercials. En justa i modesta correspondència, demane als seus usuaris que no alteren el seu nom, i que vaja acompanyat sempre d'aquest document inalterat.
