PLAY: Play begins by rolling the die. The number showing on top determines the number of letters which must be used by each player in making his word. Each player now thinks of a word with the specified number of letters and then quickly takes the appropriate letter tiles. If other players have already taken all of a needed letter, a player must think of another word of the correct length which can be spelled using the available letters. Each player now checks to see that he has spelled his word correctly. He then rearranges his letters on his stand so that when they are revealed, the letters will be right side up and in a row but jumbled so as to disguise the actual word. When all players are ready, they simultaneously turn their stands around to reveal their letters to their opponents. Then, each player tries to unscramble his opponents' words. He may "work" on any word of his choice and may move from one word to another if others seem less difficult. The first player to identify any opponent's word or any word using all an opponent's letters, scores first place points. That group of letters is removed from that round. The first player who identifies one of the remaining words scores second place points, etc., according to the number of players participating as shown on the chart below. Note that it is possible for one player to identify more than one word in a round, and he therefore scores according to the "places" he takes in the order of identifying words. If there are five players and one player "places" second and fifth he scores 40 + 10 = 50 points for the round. He does not receive any bonus points for having identified more than one word in a round. NUMBER OF POINTS SCORED PER ROUND No. of Place Players 1st 2nd 3rd 4th 5th 2 20 10 3 30 20 10 4 40 30 20 10 5 50 40 30 20 10 After the first round, alI the letters are returned to the center area where they are shuffled for use in the second round which proceeds in the same manner. If players are "stumped" by a particular word or words, they may mutually agree to abandon their efforts and begin another round. No points are scored for the unidentified word.
